Faqs

General
I have no experience. Do you teach total beginners?
Yes. I have taught numerous people with zero experience playing
guitar. It is actually preferable that you have no former experience as
you will not have any potential bad habits to correct. This is especially
true in regards to physical technique.
Can I really learn guitar online?

Absolutely. Entire degrees in all manner of subjects are now
conducted online and globally around the world. It is quite common
today to be able to learn any skill or interest online through the internet. Music is no exception. Learning in this manner is also far more convenient as it eliminates the time required to commute physically from lessons.

What types of students have you taught?

All types, males and females ranging from six to sixty. From college students to adults with diverse careers such as an NYPD detective, high school biology teacher, Jewish Rabbi, criminal attorney, bartender, Broadway dance instructor, stripper to seasoned guitarists who already perform in public venues.

What should students consider before taking formal lessons?

It is important you understand your goals and expectations.  You
should also be clear about your schedule, practice habits and any
conflicts. A teacher should also be made aware of any difficulties concerning the material and topics as lessons progress.

What advice would you give a student regarding lessons?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, especially concerning how the
lessons are structured and what you hope to learn.  You should also
be prepared to dedicate time to practice and work towards your
specific goals.  The teacher can only guide you in the right direction.

Do you offer in person lessons?

Yes if you are local to my current location, you are welcome to
schedule live lessons. I am currently located in Wellington, Florida.

Cost and procedure for payment is the same as online lessons.

I am interested. How do I start lessons?

A potential student should contact me by email to express interest
in lessons and explain any background in guitar, their musical goals, schedule preferences and when they wish to begin.

Pricing
What is the cost of each lesson?

Cost is entirely dependent on length.

30 Minutes – $25
60 Minutes – $50

The choice is entirely up to the student based on personal schedule and finances.

How do I pay for my lessons?

I accept Zelle for all lesson payments. It is a free service which is
already incorporated by major banks and credit unions. You can find more information at the official website:

Zoom

Do you offer any package deals?

Yes which will be updated periodically when my schedule permits.
Check the website often as I will offer these deals when my availability changes.

Is there a contract or auto billing?

No. I detest both as they are corporate policies designed to lock you
in making it difficult for both the teacher and student to coordinate
busy schedules or control finances when on a strict budget. I have
worked for all big box music retailers and each one incorporated
various billing schemes to indirectly charge students fees under the
guise of unscrupulous contracts.

Scheduling
What time during the week are you available for lessons?

I have a very flexible schedule, so I try to accommodate based on
mutual availability. I will work on a convenient schedule to so that all lessons remain on a specific day and time.

Do you teach during the weekdays?

Yes.  Contact me to arrange a suitable time between Monday to
Friday. I generally schedule lessons from 11am to 5pm.  This makes
it convenient for students who live in different time zones.  I can also schedule evening lessons periodically when time permits.

Can I schedule lessons on weekends?

Yes. I have limited availability but will try to accommodate if you are
unable to schedule lessons during a weekday period.

How do I cancel or reschedule a lesson?

Easy simply send me an email or text message informing me as
soon as possible. We can attempt to reschedule during the same
week if time and availability permit. Otherwise, the lesson will resume
the following week.

Technical
Do I need to use Zoom for the lessons?

Yes you will need a free Zoom account.  You can download and
install a copy from the official website:

Zoom

There are versions for desktop, Android, Apple and various browser
extensions.

Do I have to use an amplifier during the lessons?

Yes it will be a great deal easier if I can hear you play during the
scheduled lessons.  This way I can easily determine your progress
and make any necessary corrections based on the material and topics covered.

What is the best setting to use with Zoom?

In order for us to adequately hear each other during the lesson, you
will need to follow this guide to set the optimal settings for live
music:

Zoom Settings

These settings will eliminate most of the drop out issues associated
with speech only.

Library
Are the books available as a hardcopy?

No all books featured in the shop section are available only in digital
format.  You will be able to download a zip file which will contain the
PDF file and any audio or video files if the original published item
included these features.

How often will new books be listed?

This varies with time and access to available source material.  This
section will always be expanding to feature diverse titles covering a multitude of musical subjects and topics.  The best option is to check
the website often to see any new additions.

Are all of these books individually scanned?

Yes.  Every single page was individually scanned using a resolution
which provided the best clarity and sharpness.  This is especially
important since most written music in tablature or standard notation
is published in black and white.

Can I request a specific book?

Unfortunately, no. If I did, I would easily be bombarded by numerous
requests. Specific titles are selected based on rarity, genre, overall
demand and interest as well as niche. I try to have a diverse selection
for mass appeal to guitarists of all levels and stylistic preferences.
